Frequently Asked Questions
Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked question about MakerPlot purchases and licensing.
How is MakerPlot sold?
We offer the MakerPlot software as a free, 30-day trial download for you to evaluate. The trial period has a few timeout limitations but otherwise, it's the full, complete version for you to experiment with. If you like what you see, then you can purchase a Software Registration Code to unlock the timeout restrictions.
What do I receive when I purchase a MakerPlot license?
When you purchase a MakerPlot Single or Lab Pack license you will be emailed a receipt for your order along with another email that contains a Registration Code and instructions for installing the code in the software to unlock its full capabilities. There is no physical shipment for direct purchases; however, our Authorized Resellers may mail you a scratcher card with a coupon number that you can use to acquire your Registration Code.
Why can't I receive my Registration Code directly from an Authorized Reseller?
Most of our resellers have their own online order fulfillment systems, which are not compatible with ours so they can't email the Registration Codes directly. Because of this they will send you a scratcher card with a discount coupon number that acts like a gift card to purchase MakerPlot from this website.
To redeem the discount coupon simply go to the Buy Link in the menu and purchase MakerPlot normally. When you get to the payment section it will prompt you for your scratcher number (called a discount). Just enter it along with your name and email and the MakerPlot Registration Code will be emailed to you. This way we can keep track of your Registration Code in case you loose it or need tech support.
How do I recover a lost Registration Code?
We know this happens from time to time so Contact Us with your name and email address and we will attempt to locate it for you in our database. We will then reissue you the same Registration Code once we locate it.
What technical support do you offer?
If you're having problems with installing or using MakerPlot, we want to know about it and want to help you! We don't offer phone support. However, because MakerPlot is designed to be customized - which is why we call it MakerPlot - we usually can't help you with application issues like "How can I get MakerPlot to run my process?" or "What do I need to do to create a new interface for my application?". Our forum is where to go to pose these kinds of questions.
But if you're really stuck, we certainly do want to help, so don't hesitate to Contact Us and we'll do our best to lend a hand.
Do I pay once for a license or does it expire at some time?
Our MakerPlot licenses are NOT subscriptions that need to be renewed periodically. You pay once and you can use the license for as long as you please. The license you purchase is for the particular MakerPlot Single User or Lab Pack version at the time you purchased it. Updates to fix bugs or generally improve performance are free; however, if we do come out with a completely different version (called an "upgrade") in the future, this will require purchasing a separate license. We don't see this happening anytime soon.
Can I install MakerPlot on more than one computer?
It depends on the license that you purchase. No for a Single User license and Yes for our Lab Pack license. You can find complete details on our MakerPlot License link.
Do I get a discount if I purchase more than one license?
No.
Will MakerPlot continue to work when I purchase a new computer?
Yes. You can simply uninstall MakerPlot on the old computer then download the latest version from this website and install it on your new computer using the same Registration Code.
I don't have a credit card. Can I still order MakerPlot?
Yes. In addition to credit cards you can use PayPal that comes standard with our online order fulfillment system. If you don't have a PayPal account it's easy to set one up, and PayPal will link to your bank account for payment from you. And PayPal will also accept your personal check, but it will take a few days to clear before you can receive your MakerPlot Registration Code by email.
We don't directly accept checks, money orders, wire transfers or other personal payment options. PayPal can help you with that.
Can my school or business issue a purchase order?
We generally would prefer to have you order online for low quantities of Single or Lab Pack licenses. However, if you want to order in larger quantities (5 or more) for multiple classrooms, office areas or labs we will consider accepting purchase orders. Contact Us to find out.
I no longer want to use MakerPlot. Can I return it for a refund?
We can't refund your MakerPlot purchase once the invoice and Registration Code has been emailed to you. MakerPlot and the Registration Code are both delivered electronically, and just like other products that are delivered this way, it is not possible to return them.
We offer a free 30-day trial period for evaluation and feel that this gives you sufficient opportunity to try MakerPlot for your own application. If you are not satisfied with it or it doesn't meet your needs, then don't purchase it.
